Earlier today Karen, Volunteering Project Manager in Manchester, and her client Mooch joined the Volunteer Centre Manchester on their monthly radio show, VCM FM, on North Manchester FM. They were both interviewed about the work of Step Together and the impact volunteering has had for our clients.

Karen, who works on our Reducing Re-offending programme talked about the support we provide, who we work with, and the types of volunteering placements our clients have been involved in.

"It's all about removing every barrier. Doesn't matter, how big or small that barrier is. It could be confidence and self-esteem. I had one gentleman and literally for six weeks, I didn't see his face because he was sat in the cafe with his cap down. He went on to volunteer with animals and now he has a job and is doing really well."

For our Christmas Appeal this year, Mooch has shared his story of how, with Step Together's support, he has turned his life around through community volunteering. He talked about his own experience, how he got involved with Step Together and the positive impact it has had on his life. If you haven't already seen our new video about Mooch's story, you can watch it here.
